The University of Gastronomic Sciences was established in January 2003 by Slow Food in conjunction with the regional authorities of Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont.
It is a private university “working to renew farming methods, protect biodiversity and maintain an organic relationship between gastronomy and agricultural science”.
Carlo Petrini says the study of gastronomy never had academic dignity; “gastronomy today is something serious, it is serious for the economy and for the defence of a nation’s culture”.
The University offers a three year undergraduate course, post graduate programs and masters programs.
